CETP Delivery Combo: Bobtail and Cylinder Delivery Operations 2.2/2.4 “COMBO”
This TWO-DAY class, one day for 2.2 and one day for 2.4) is designed for bobtail and cylinder delivery drivers. This course provides current information, delivery practices and procedures to safely and efficiently deliver propane to customers. Students receive both Bobtail 2.2 & Cylinder Delivery 2.4 Operations Textbooks in .pdf format. This offering requires some self-study or advance preparation and this will allow the actual class to complete in two days, including live electronic testing on the PERC website at the end of the instructor-led session..
The books are updated to the most current edition of NFPA 58 and 49 CFR.The course is primarily designed to train employees who deliver propane in the bobtail (cargo tank motor vehicles) as well as delivery via Cylinder trucks.
This COMBO takes TWO DAYS to complete and may occur on two, non-concurrent days.. Class is designed for bobtail and cylinder delivery drivers. This course provides current information, delivery practices and procedures to safely and efficiently deliver propane to customers. Students receive both Bobtail 2.2 & Cylinder Delivery 2.4 Operations Textbooks in .pdf format.
2.2 provides information for drivers who operate commercial motor vehicles to deliver propane. It provides practices and procedures that support many general delivery tasks. Primarily designed to train employees who operate a bobtail, the most common vehicle used for transporting and delivering propane to individual customers.
The topics covered are:
DOT Licensing and Driving Requirements
Vehicle Inspections, Identification, and documentation
Safely handling hazardous materials
Handling Out-Of-Gas Calls
Driving defensively
Vehicle parking, servicing and security
Bobtail equipment and systems, including cargo tank, gauges, valves, pumps, meters, delivery hoses and emergency discharge control equipment.
Presents detailed procedures for safely loading a bobtail using the plant pump.
Discusses DOT requirements for bobtail inspections.
Reviews the features and installation requirements of ASME tanks at customer locations.
2.4 Cylinder Delivery Operations
Cylinder Delivery Operations was developed by the Propane Education & Research Council (PERC), industry experts and many others as part of the industry’s commitment to increase the level of safety and reduce accidents throughout the propane industry.
Primarily designed for cylinder delivery drivers, this course provides current information, practices and procedures for safely and efficiently delivering propane to customers, and will aid you in preparing for NPGA’s CETP certification.
Course Objectives
Understand CMV licensing and driving requirements and restrictions.
Identify vehicle inspection, marking, and documentation requirements.
Recognize and protect yourself from hazards associated with handling propane and other flammable liquids.
Identify procedures for handling out-of-gas calls and leak checking distribution piping systems.
List safe driving strategies and procedures for handling accidents and emergencies.
Identify regulations for parking your CMV indoors and outdoors.
Identify common features of cylinders and their valves, gauges, and fittings.
Explain how to properly prepare cylinders for service including proper inspection, purging, and valve extraction procedures.
List precautions and steps for filling cylinders and ASME vehicle-mounted tanks at the bulk plant.
Know procedures for properly delivering propane to residential and commercial customers.
2.2 and 2.4 are updated to the most current edition of NFPA 58 and designed for cylinder delivery drivers, this course provides current information, practices and procedures for safely and efficiently delivering propane to customers.
TWO-DAYS: The live, online, instructor-led class will begin at 8 a.m. on Day One and conclude no later than 5 p.m. on Day Two. The class will end with a vigorous study session that will involve all attendees and the instructor. The study session will be followed by the online exam.
2.2 Self Study suggestions - In order to achieve satisfactory completion of the class within the allotted time, all students registering for this class agree to a significant amount of self study on the following:
Read the module summaries
Answer the questions in all the module quizzes
Complete each module CHECK FOR UNDERSTANDING
Spend a reasonable amount of time on the following lessons;
all of module 4 lesson 3,
module 7 lesson 2 & 3,
module 8 lesson 2,
module 10 lesson 2; make sure you remember the tank size distance requirements,
module 11 lesson 1 and 2 are critically important together with lesson 3.

Cost: Per Person, the cost for the TWO DAY COMBO CLASS is $400 if bought on or before July 15 2021, or $450 if bought after July 15 2021. Fees include all materials, online live testing and instruction.
